halloween printing + stitching

busy-busy trying to finish up halloween projects for my etsy shop. i finally finished these halloween capes. this has been a long term project, but i am most pleased with the end result. the capes are 100% handmade from print to stitch. images original to baking with medusa and screen-printed by hand. wish i had documented the printing process. printing prior to garment construction has it's challenges. perhaps next time.

this is a project idea i've had for quite sometime now. I truly love vintage manufactured halloween costumes and the use of print. in these items the garment contruction is simple, but the costume is made by the printed elements. i definitely hope to do more of such projects in the future.

there are three separate styles in both child and adult sizes. more images may be found here on flickr. capes available for purchase in my etsy shop.

halloween in film: part 4

it's halloween 1980's style. nothing like a seance on halloween night in an abandoned funeral parlor where a murderous rampage occured. you just can't take the halloween out of this movie.

halloween in film: part2

these stills are from the 1959 film Ghost of Dragstrip Hollow.
in this scene the local hot rod gang hosts a halloween spook party in an abandoned, and possibly haunted, mansion.

halloween in film: part 1

so halloween is fast approaching. in preparation for costume making this holiday season, i will be doing a series of posts highlighting halloween [particularly halloween costumes+decor] in film. today's selection is from Lady in White. i absolutely love the bela lugosi vampire mask lucas haas wears in the begining of the film. the classroom scenes on halloween day rock. what could be better than a school day with candy, jack-o-lanterns, costumes + creepy creative writing? having lucy lee flippen [aka eliza jane wilder from little house in the prairie] as your third grade teacher that's what.

anyway, enough of my little house fixations. below are image stills from the halloween day portion of Lady in White [click on images for enlarged viewing]. more images from the film may be found here.

sorry, i can't resist kids with the demoniac stare.
